At that place were a couple of surprises as l Cent and Anderson .Paak joined hip hop legends Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem in the Super Basin halftime bear witness.

It's the first time that hip-hop artists have headlined the showcase.

"This is what it's almost," Snoop Dogg told a news conference this week in Los Angeles. "This is what hip hop and the NFL is supposed to exist most: representing almost a change, near moving frontwards, so we appreciate the NFL for even entertaining hop hop because nosotros know there are a lot of people who won't (have) hip hop on stage,"

Eminem knelt at the end of his performance of 'Lose Yourself'

Was this in back up of Colin Kaepernick? We don't know still, merely Em hasn't hesitated to speak out before.

The Detroit rapper dissed Donald Trump during his cypher appearance during the 2017 Hip-Hop Awards.

My terminal thoughts on the halftime show

This was the kind of halftime performance we deserved and anticipated when the Super Bowl was in Atlanta a few years agone. From the kickoff to the finish. Hell from the 2d we saw the set of the halftime show, nosotros knew were in for a functioning for the ages. And in so many means it didn't disappoint.

From the intricacy of the set — which looked like various areas in Los Angeles — to the costumes of the performers and the artists, to the bodily music selected, this was a well executed show. In addition to the known performers, the additions of fifty Cent and Anderson .Paak, were genuinely pleasant surprises and welcomed performances, as well.

"In Da Club" was the song of the generation growing upwardly early 2000s, and I don't know if at that place's any way I can properly convey how hot that vocal was at its tiptop and for people my age group. I genuinely wish we could've heard Snoop Dogg perform whatsoever one of his stand alone songs. He has so many good ones.

Kendrick Lamar caught me off baby-sit, in a good way, with doing m.A.A.d Metropolis to showtime his set, but he didn't with all the swagger performing in his hometown.

Greatest halftime show ever

I was born in Los Angeles and I'1000 biased, but this was the most fun I've e'er had with a halftime evidence. The fix and show were L.A. from Tam's to the khaki suits and Chuck Taylors.

Snoop and Dre picked the correct songs. Mary J. added the correct amount of soul. Eminem and 50 Cent showed Dre'due south accomplish in rap outside of California. Given the game is in Inglewood, at that place wasn't a better idea for the show. I'll exist watching information technology again … later the game.

'Still D.R.E.' will forever be timeless

The piano keys of "Still D.R.E." will forever raise your eyebrows and spirit. Fifty-fifty with that one verse, Dr. Dre caused a shift in the crowd and probable across America. It'due south just one of those timeless joints that reflects on the past, present and future all at once.

You're probably still rapping the hook....

What amend way to cease the show? L.A. for the win

"Nonetheless D.R.E." is the perfect way to close the evidence. Dre is still the greatest producer of all-time (in my biased West Coast stance) and the show showcased his influence.

From the hardest of hip hop to the soulful singing of Mary J., there's non much Dre can't do. Nosotros had Crip Walking and a Tam'due south Burgers sign in the bear witness. 50.A. for the win.

We see yous LeBron

Uh oh, LeBron James sighting immediately afterward the Super Bowl LVI halftime show. In the commercial, he's in what looks like a possible replica of his childhood bedchamber, and he's talking to the high school version of himself near what to await in the futurity.

Equally the younger version of James, sporting his Irish jersey, sits on the bed, the elder version of James gives him just to know that the future volition prove limitless for him. Every bit the James autumn backwards on the bed, they scream, "We're going to the league!"

Kendrick opened with a surprising, but courageous performance

Wow, if you used our betting article as a bespeak of reference for whether to bet on hearing yard.A.A.d City, unfortunately, you would've lost coin. The very first vocal that Kendrick Lamar performed during his segment as he moved around the stage, fix to look like Los Angeles, in his all blackness suit adorned with aureate.

I tended to recall that given heavily the n-word and the audience physically in the stands, it was a no get. But you know what Lamar did? He literally leaned further into it with him and his back circular dancers shushing when the discussion came up. A song we did know we'd hear, "Alright," Lamar went straight into his bag on both with his functioning and the actual rapping of the song.

'No More than Drama' a shocker

"Family unit Matter" was pretty much a guarantee the moment the lineup was announced. But "No More Drama" well, that was a shocker. Not considering it's not a good song, but because the tone of the song isn't exactly festive. But Mary makes songs about resilience too. Bonus? She didn't dial her emotions down one bit.

Quick observation from the SoFi

There are all of these folks in monochromatic blues, tans and greys who just came out and lined up along the concentric circles and sabbatum down.

They're holding piffling lights like candles.

Snoop and Dre put on a prove with a surprise guest

"The Next Episode" opened the halftime show. Snoop and Dre at their best. "California Love" had to play and Dre dropped his verse on the vocal (no Tupac hologram)."

Our first surprise of the night? 50 Cent performing "In Da Order.

Of course 50 had to make an appearance

In a somewhat, but if truly thought about, not really surprising move, Dr. Dre went declension to declension to bring in 50 Cent to perform "In Da Club." For those who didn't come across the video, Dr. Dre and Eminem were featured in the video, considering the helped produce the track that heated upward clubs and was used for birthday celebrations since the early on 2000s. Bully surprise invitee add-on on Dr. Dre's part.
